zk: Mooohahahahahahahahahahaha =)
oh well you got your back, i'm getting onto bach... o.O
sandman rawks =)

next week is going to be hellish. Oh yeah people, choir's going to perform after school on wednesday in the central plaza... so you must all come watch ok! it would be mighty embarrassing if we don't at least have some people watching... :P

ok intellectual debate time! i'm going to post something on grapedrops i re-found which i'd written for S21 in sec 3... I'm sure Johnny would have plenty to say about it.

hi guyz...realized i haven't written in a while so i thought i'd write in. like now.
*writewritewrite*

hm sorry not feeling in a particularly good mood :-(
and i'm terribly confused about things right now.
oh yah the panther poem i promised you how could i forget...well here it is! the english version's not as powerful as the german one but since u probably won't understand the latter i guess the english one will have to suffice. but here's both the translation and the original.

Rainer Maria Rilke: Der Panther

Captivity has gone too far—
you see a tired empty stare:
He thinks there are a thousand bars
and that behind them nothing's there.

Strong and supple strides around
and back to their beginning come.
A swirling play of power surrounds
a noble will that stands there numb.

Just at times the curtain parts
quietly inside his eyes.
Along a nerve, awareness darts—
arriving in his heart, it dies.

I'm fine.....so far, thank you very much, Kai Siang. Nowadays, thanks to someone, i have become a fan of Sandman comics. I need Sandman comics. I need more Sandman comics. Someone lend me more.
But otherwise....Interview's next week, sigh. So is econs test and lit test and SAT mock test. Eurgh. And i realized I haven't done my Functions tutorial yet. Sigh.

I don't know whether you people are interested in what they asked me this afternoon, but here goes:

1. What are the subjects you are taking now?
2. What is your favourite subject?
3. What do you plan to do when you get into university? [I thought this question was quite weird... I can assure you that my answer was not "Electrical Engineering" or "Medicine"]
4. [wait I can't quite remember. My answer had something to do with Chinese calligraphy]
5. [in Chinese] How has calligraphy helped you in your Chinese?
6. [in Chinese] What benefits, do you think, are there in being billingual?
7. [in Chinese] Have you been interviewed before? [uh-oh. what are the implications?] What were these interviews about? ["My methods of studying"] Would you be comfortable if someone asked you how to master two languages?
8. [in English] Why do you think so many young people have problems mastering Chinese?
9. What could be done to improve on the teaching of languages?

Basically the 3 interviewers were very pleasant people, butI found myself stumbling at the later part of the interviews, especially at questions 7 and 8 - too many points to bring up, too little time for mental organisation. Somehow I found question 7 almost impossible to answer, because of the "yes/no" nature of the answer. And as for qn 8, the problem is not a dearth of points but I'd never thought of this question in -ENGLISH- before. (because this question is a favourite among Chinese teachers and they used to make us write essays about it.)

Right.

bah, i'm anti-climatic (stupid modem committed hara-kiri the day of humanz quiz) but anyhow it was a job very well done =) every aspect from cackling evilly over the questions and teams and strategems to yes, even swearing at the hardware (and for zk.. more than swearing...) was deeply memorable... thanks for letting me be part of it on such short notice! Cheers for the organizing com! we shall do this again and insiduously sow the desire for hwachong humanities in our juniors' subconsciousness! Forward Humanities Challenge!
